Institute of Textile Technology of RWTH Aachen University

The Institut für Textiltechnik (ITA) of RWTH Aachen University is associated with the department of Textile Engineering and is headed by Professor Thomas Gries. ITA is a part of the faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the RWTH. ITA is responsible for the textile-related curriculum of the ‘Plastics and Textile Technology’ discipline of study in various Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in mechanical engineering at the RWTH Aachen.

100 research assistants work at ITA in the field of materials, production processes and products for technical applications of textile structures. ITA GmbH with 24 employees acts as a technology transfer company for the ITA Group since 14 years. ITA GmbH is a partner for industries in the field of research and development.
