TFI – Institute for Floor Systems at the RWTH Aachen e.V.
Founded in 1964, TFI is the competent partner for research, testing and certification in the field of floor and wall systems as well as other products for interior design under the motto “Testing, Researching, Informing”. TFI’s pre-competitive research covers the entire life cycle, from the use of raw materials to production, installation, use and disposal at the end of the use phase. One focus is the optimization of processes with regard to production speed, flexibility and freedom from defects. The aspects of quality, ecology and economy as well as their interactions are examined with priority.
In its research, the Institute primarily develops solutions in the field of the development, manufacture, marketing, use and recycling of floor coverings and systems. Special focus is placed on the promotion, improvement and assurance of product quality and health, environmental and consumer protection.
The TFI has an accredited test laboratory according to ISO 17025 and offers tests in the areas of safety, health, quality and practicability for the following products, among others:
