The Professorship of Micro Production Engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Chemnitz University of Technology researches process chains, technologies and tools for the production of precision and micro components. Areas of application for such components include the automotive industry and its suppliers, mechanical engineering, but also medical technology, sensor technology and the electronics industry.

The targeted further development of micro- and precision manufacturing takes place under these aspects:

  • a flexible, process-safe and economical production technology from prototype to series production
  • the energy- and resource-efficient design of processes and process chains
  • an expansion of the range of processable materials for micro and precision components
  • functional design and evaluation of micro-structured surfaces
  • tool development and manufacturing for cutting, ablative and forming micro- and precision machining.

As a network partner, we can specify new surfaces in terms of abrasion resistance as well as optical and haptic effects. The R&D projects can be accompanied and supported by the TU Chemnitz with various services such as surface design, multiphysical simulations or tool manufacturing. The appropriate project partners are already available in the network.”
