Brückenbildung

Brückenbildung NRW - Synergy Building between EU Research Fundings: Experiences and Findings

 -

Location: Representation of the German State of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) to the European Union, Rue Montoyer 47, 1000 Brussels

The use of synergies between European funding programmes is a central element of current and future European research and innovation policy. The legislative proposals presented by the European Commission for the next period 2021 to 2027 related to the new framework programme for research and innovation “Horizon Europe” and the European Structural and Investment Funds indicate that synergies between the forthcoming EU funding programmes are an important feature that necessitates appropriate action by all European Member States and Regions.

With its “Brückenbildung NRW” project, North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) is one of the foremost regions in Europe that has carried out a strategic evaluation of synergies between regional and European innovation funding and delivered policy recommendations. These results will be presented at the conference together with those from comparable approaches in Estonia and the Czech Republic. The panel discussion will provide an opportunity to debate with high-level representatives on the potential of synergies implemented at regional, national and European level.
